Senior Care in Sacramento CA
The timing of the Resource proved impeccable as on September 29, 2016, the United States Senate passed Resolution 591, thereby designating the week of October 9-15, 2016 as “National Case Management Week”. The purpose of the resolution is to recognize the role of case management in improving health care outcomes for patients. It is fitting then, that the Sacramento Chapter of CMSA held the 10th annual Case Management Week, Celebration Dinner & Resource Expo at the Marriott Hotel in Rancho Cordova on Wednesday, October 12, 2016.
The CMSA Sacramento Chapter for the Resource Expo expected 90 case managers from various settings to attend. There were tons of exhibitors from various settings including Acute Rehabs, Skilled Nursing Facilities, Assisted Living, Home Health Companies, Home Care Providers, Emergency Responders, Durable Medical Equipment & many more.
The Guest Speaker, Patricia Blaisdell, FACHE, Vice President of The California Hospital Association, Continuum of Care, did a fantastic job presenting on the topic of “Partnering Across the Care Continuum; An Update on Health Care Reform and implications for Case Management Professionals” Mrs. Blaisdell outlined & simplified where we are now in the continuum, the progress towards goals achieved to date, and the anticipated next steps and implications for case managers. One of the implications discussed, was identifying the need going forward for case managers to help bridge gaps to more CBO/HCBS services)
The Expo proved to be a great opportunity to meet Case Managers & various other health care providers all in one place, at one time. We were also able to pick up valuable information on community resources from the exhibitors and enjoyed the wonderful food, desserts & company of the professionals at our dinner table!
If you have never attended before you definitely want to check it out next year not only for the great resources & dinner but also for the great networking and opportunity to earn CEU’s for those who are Social Workers and other Behavioral Science Health professionals.
