With the rising cost of living in California, everyone knows someone who is trying to make ends meet. Financial challenges can be especially tough for people on a fixed income.
To help, the state is offering property tax deferment for some vulnerable homeowners.
State Controller Betty T. Yee administers the Property Tax Postponement (PTP) Program to allow many homeowners who are seniors, are blind, or have a disability to defer payment
of residential property taxes. Last year, California homeowners received more than $2.2 million in property tax relief.
Applicants must also meet income, equity, and other requirements. PTP participants must reapply each year to demonstrate they continue to meet eligibility requirements.
The application filing period for 2017-18 runs October 1, 2017, through February 10,
2018. Funds are limited and will be disbursed on a first-come, first-served basis.
If you or someone you know could benefit from the PTP program, visit
